About Sahaja Yoga Meditation

"Sahaja" means spontaneous, or inborn. The experience of the meditation is effortless and available to every human being. Sahaja Yoga Meditation was created by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi in 1970. Click here to read about her life >.

Through Sahaja Yoga Meditation, we become peaceful, content, and secure in who we are and what are true potential is. It is possible to become free of the dictates of our ego or conditionings.

We can find the balance we have been seeking. We can live at a new level of freedom, no longer subject to the extremes of our emotions or our rational intellect. Instead, our intelligence is informed by our heart, and our emotions express our highest qualities of morality and compassion.

In the animation at left, the potential spiritual energy which lies dormant at the base of the spine rises during the practice of Sahaja Yoga Meditation, and takes our attention above our thoughts, to silence and peace.

Shri Mataji explains the purpose of Sahaja Yoga Meditation in this way: "The global unity of mankind can be achieved. A person becomes moral, integrated and balanced. One becomes peaceful and joyous in life."
